"Yes, I have started an A3 on this issue. Planning of maybe doing an DOE to find the best solution for all parties.   I think the main reason is understaffing but we will see after the study :) Thanks,"

"OK, thanks. This isn't something that we'll solve here. Can you put together a team at the hospital, including nursing to come up with some alternatives?   One other path I'd suggest is to look at why the nurses print out extra…"

"Yes, printers cannot be placed on floor because nurses will do exactly what you mentioned in your book. Print more bands/stickers to scan those rather than the patients' bands (to expedite the process). No other department has 24-hr coverage…"

"Why is the process set up so that admission arm bands can only be done in the ED? Why can't this be changed? Have you had that discussion internally?"

"Hello,   From what I can tell – the problem is specific to patients who are direct admits (not seen in the ED) to the facility after hours or a replacement arm band is needed resulting in the RN having to call ED reg for the arm band."

"Hi Ricardo - what is the exat problem statement in your case?   Long delays in getting wristbands for newly admitted patients because they are printed in the ED? Does this problem apply to all admitted patients or just those coming from the ED?"
